LIDICKEN 1979 March 21 cont. total of 43 days at 520'. Caught 1 Mus + 1 Passer domesti, (Hale Palau mus lower of rock ; Palakula = long rock ; Mamaw lon = long mt, Manwa koo = white at 1830 mt.). Set 6 down trips in tree clump near cabin (1 is clamor- dition camp) Proceeded home mine after dinner. 2130-2210 we are trapping at the new bird facility. Aside had (3 q dead 4 11/16 wt+Am) 6 mus + day farm 1 mus - all alive!} Some young traps have replaced a others not giving total 48 set of 14 inside and 19 day farm = 33. Checked 6 traps set near cabin 2215-2230; nothing. Traps and cabin are nearly "radio"ed from here. Seeds of the lettuce we sown scattered on the ground everywhere (they are orange & conspicuous). March 22 According to Paul Branse it was 28 F at the "farm" during the night. Some of the duck ponds were frozen over. Traps inside: 3 alive mus + 2 dead. Pulled 3 traps leaving 30. The Castle-de trap had nothing. Along N fence caught 2 Rattlers setting which we gave to Paul. Pulled 6 of down traps leaving 13. We continue to be amazed at how mus from den die quickly - traps from as far away as 4 we have rescued food & safe home at Hale Palau when it is much colder & we have not checked the fence at night. Hale Palau: 9400 ft. - Caught 3 mus; set up 4 down traps giving 9-3+4 = 10. traps.
