LIDICKER 1978 Oct. 20 cont. rock field. There was more for I sign than the 2 number ever seeing before. Just beaver activity in this area. From 2130 to 2300 watched beaver in the pond by the river lawn. Saw 3 different individuals, including 2 ad. & 1 small one. One of, had a yellow sway fly in one ear oval in the other. Oct. 21 Caught 1 Peromyscus maniculatus, 1 Centaures (WC 3616) canorus & 1 Thomascinrus daylessi in my 4 net traps making a total of 4 species caught in them 4 traps. Also saw 1 E. Speciosa in the vicinity. One of Western cinarae was at the river trap. This has changed back to the lot for the day & returned in the afternoon. The cotton gin traps had been set last time was going. One spider trap had been destroyed. Saw of a hand 3 Winter Wrens. In afternoon, did set up 4 net traps, & 1 gopher trap. Set a second gopher near vicinity of morning one. Had gone over to larger meadow ~ 3/4 mi. E of Station to set for water shrews & moleskates. Then was a walk and 1 M. size in the water, mostly swimming (mostly in thicker grassy areas clumps) & jills 2 cuttings. Then was over along the Independence Lake to set flying squirrel traps. Set 5 nailed on fence & front objects at Steve Smith's old clippered study area (1 1/2 mi. N, 0.6 mi. E Sugar K. Field Stn., 6640ft. Swine Co.). Bait used was apple & peanut butter.
