LIDICKER 1978 May 23 cont. Waggon Hanson & Lars Eberhardt from Los Alamos Lab in N. Mex. who work on the N slope (and) Prudhoe Bay) on foxes, shrews, small mammals, etc. Then talked briefly to George West & Steve MacLean. Back to Wolf's Inn where we had early dinner for us. 2 o'clock dinner met John Fox who is theoretical ecologist from Univ of Wyoming & Univ of Chicago & now on staff at Univ. of Alaska May 24 Other birds seen and Fe-Marks: Harpy Gull - 1+ Snow Gull - 1+ Swainson's Thrush - heavy load Horned Flycatcher - 5+ land only Baldfish - 1 Jr. Cliff Swallow - 10+ Had breakfast with Jerry Marven. Went to INF where we got some frozen working together from the back to the Bay Area. Called Don Calkins in Anchorage to talk about our sea lion job (missed him on first try, but he called me back later). Talked with Ted Dyrvess, Director of INF. Went to Inst. Marine Sci. to look for Bud Fay; he wasn't in so left him a message. Also met briefly Don Bergelley as Jerry's friend Joanna at IAB. Arrived at Fairbanks airport ~ 10:00 & left on Alaska Airlines flight at 10:30. Stopped in Anchorage for ~ 40 min. then to Seattle. Arr. Oakland ~ 20:15. Retrieved baggage by 21:00 & took BART home.
