Alaska Trip
19-24 May
May 19 - Left S.F. early on United flight 0930
for Seattle; or ~1115. After waiting until 1345
for Alaska Air flight to Fairbanks, it was cancelled
due to foggy - had scramble for space on other flights.
Struggled into Alaska flight at 1400 failed, but
then it took minutes I got on a Western flight
to Anchorage leaving 1430 (actually left 1500).
In Anchorage, managed to find space on a Western
flight to Fairbanks leaving 1815 (1615 PT).
Tried to call Jerry at Inst. N. Farming from Anchorage
but failed to get him. Arrived Fairbanks 1930,

We stopped by Inst. when I called Bonnie:
Bonnie regarding her thesis. Then we went to Bob
& Judy Weeden's house to visit with Charlie
Krebs who was in town briefly to give a seminar
(I missed it at 1530). Also talked to Dave Klein
& Gary & Peggy Surrency. Judy Weeden is former classmate
? Krebs at UCSB, a dean type thing. And ? Beck for
many years at U of Alaska. Stayed at Jerry's apartment
town.
May 20 - Packed up for trip to Hess Creek, left
~1030. Partly cloudy. Spring is now advanced than 1
year ago, with birches & aspens almost fully leafed out.
As we drove north, deadshot was more noticed
around Hess Creek, hardwoods or just beginning to
