L. DICKEN 1977 July 10 cont. Birds noted Garrison to Montrose, Col.: Red-wing W. Tongue - 18 Brown Blackbird W. & Cassin's Kingbird V.-green Swallow Starling (Mr. Montrose) Barn Swallow M. Dove Wk., thr. Swift. Robin Green-tailed Towhee Montrose to Grand Jet: : M. Dove Night hawk Lots of Pipiswelles, herons seen. July 11 Took Interstate 70 from Grand Jet. to Salina, Utah. Then Utah 26 to Delta with doctor Vic Tilbman + Utah 100, US 50 to Ely, where we had dinner, + the US 6 to Tongue. As there are no hotels between Ely & Tongue, so all can fall in Tongue (due the hotel). We went to Miller's Rest stop, 12 mi. W of town on US 6-95 & camped for the night. It was ~ midnight by the time we got camped. Total miles for day 655! Between Ely & Tongue saw lots of Ditchwings on the road & some other wildcats & also many hawks & cottaontails. July 12 Left Rest stop at 0650 & continued W. on Pipiswelles, kestrels are flying and cars at US 6. Had breakfast at Coolidge, in Benton, Calif., switched to Calif 120 & continued into Yosemite Natl.
