LIDICKER 1977 July 7 cont. edge & willow thickets Total 45 days Live trap level up Day 8 - checked trap after breakfast (~0745) Live traps: M. crista montana, -1 (WLC#3553) Paryscaea maniculatae -2 in huck grass (released) Snap traps: Jiffys 5 - Entericus minimus -1 (WLC#3566) Paryscaea maniculatae -1 WLC 10 - Sorrex cinerinus -1 (WLC#3551) Cathiconops -1 (WLC#3552) P. maniculatae -3 Total catch = 10 Stinked the stream od Cathiconops with some members of the class looking on. After lunch, just killed a tissue samples from the microtomes using this as demonstration to 4 members of the class. Then led them w/with scissors & autopsy of 4 dead P. maniculatae as class exercise, & started specimens & data over to Bob Melton (member of class) from U. Chicago who is doing a special project on Paryscaea. 1530-1800 with Jeff, Kim, & Craig Holden went out on trappings. Result 22 by Shinn's - huck grass. Set 2 mus. spec. in large root mass nearby, 3 for water streams along a small stream, & 3 more in second large root mass. Picked up 8 by Sk. in huck grass; 1 trap held a Entericus (WLC#3554) minimus; remaining 7 were in muddy meadow with had a little better cover & a few cattails were found. Of 15 snap traps along willows, most 5 by mice (caught 1 P. maniculatae), picked up 5 & went 5 Jiffys (by (1=WLC#3564) & #3565 contained 2 Entericus minimus & 1 adult M. crista
