LIDICKER 1977 Jug 3 cont. T[illegible] Violet gr. Sinclair - 1+ McClure - 1 4 Burd-tailed Hummingbird Talked with Dave & Ann Armstrong before moving into our cabin & then with John Holden. Jug 4 - Worked on lectures for course in Adv. Topics - Pop. Biol. Went to Crested Butte for Independence Day Parade, etc. Returned afternoon & worked more on lectures. Dinner at Holdens cabin in eve. (with Paul + Ann Clark) Jug 5 - Class 1-5 pm. evening lecture to entire lab. After party at Elvick's Jug 6 - class 8-12 & 1-5. Explained area is S. Gothic (S.N. Coffee Creek) for Jon: the trapping sites. Jug 7 - Went to Lake Meridian N.W. Crested Butte & ran on our logs o Craig Holden could fish. After lunch explored with Jeff the slopes of Mt. Gothic on W. side of East River, especially looking for microtus sgr. Due to the low snow cover last winter small mammal populations are very low, esp. Microtus. Hibernators such as Eretnias minimus & Callospermophilus lateralis are abundant, however, so we in Zygos, according to Dave Armstrong. We found a few winter nests of Microtus, & just a few instances of cutting. From 16:15-18:10 Jeff & I set out traps w/ the East River. We set 22 lg. Sherman's in heavy snow for Microtus. The 8 noon & noon after lunch from further up the slope. Finally we set 15 Mus. species along the
