Jun 30 - Drove into St. Paul, visited neighborhoods in which I want to live. Went to St. Paul campus of Univ. of Minn. after lunch looking up Peter Jordan at library, fishing on tandem deck. Then went to Minneapolis campus & Bell Museum where we visited Elmer Bivins. Also saw Bud Tordoff & Ken Cortina.
Then we went to Lake Nokomis where we went for a swim (almost 180). Although it was chilly, it seemed warm after Lake Superior. Also had good 2 help days Black-crowned Night Herons fishing on the lake - flying over deep water & hovering just while on the wing. Legs dangled into the water occasionally, several specimens were obtained. None of the herons have been to land while we watched. Briefly visited Minnehaha Falls, then had dinner before proceeding to Bloomington where we visited with Derham & John Butler (2000 to ~2230). Then we drove SW on US 169 to Belle Plaine where we stopped for the night (Belle Plaine Motel).
On 170 miles traveled this day. Birds noted today:
Pectoral Spotted Hawk
