in East Lansing, at discussed the content of the
paper. Wield a light rain to "Blue Moon" for
lunch. Revised figures for Jerry's talk on brook-
lake coniferation, & want our Jerry's Ph D thesis
to consider revisions for publication.
Made a styrofoam lined box for carrying frozen
specimens, & went to Canadian dairy to buy 5 lbs of
dry ice ($1.25/lbs). Packed frozen specimens, being
from Lake Minchumina, for transport back to Berkeley.
Went back to LAB to chat with Phil Gipson, new
staff member in the F&W S. Eng. Wildlife Unit. He will
calibrate carnivores in his work while Dave Klein
continues with ungulates. Encouraged Gipson to look
into relation between Mix & martens. Also talked to
Dave Klein briefly. Maurran's parents had arrived
during the afternoon from Granite Falls, Minn. We
all went to dinner at the Tiki Can restaurant. Back
home, Maurran, her mother & I walked over to Joel &
Sue Dean's home (close to Dogpatch) visited with
them. Saw Sue's painting studio - terrific. Also met
their middle son who is also studying painting. Visited
down with Carol Hunter & Jennie Wood - in the small cabin
that Jerry now lives in (her original # 3). Got back bed @ 2315.
May 27 - Jerry drove me to the airport when we
arrived ~06:15'. Light rain. Took our flight to
Baltimore arriving 07:55'. Call Jim Estis & he
picked me up, & took me to his Office. Chatted with
