May 24 cont.
a few photos, & then started back for Fairbanks
(1355). Cleared & got warmer & more spring-like on
our down track. Arrived ~ 1630. Unpacked at
Inst., the Maureen picked me up & took us home
to "Dogpatch", Jerry & Maureen got changed & went
to a party. I wrote myself some dinner & caught up
on field notes.
May 25 - Jerry & I went down to the inst ~0900.
Told to
Ted Dryman & went on to IAB to see George West,
also talked him with Stan Mackern. Walked back to
IAF. Jerry & I started to cataloging on Hess Creek
river about 11:30. About 12:30 went to Derry Queen for
quick lunch, & back to cataloging. Fini shed ~ 1630.
Maureen picked me, & in evening went to party at Liz
& B's. Barry's. It was a good- bye party for Celia
Hunter who starts as Exec. Director of the Wilderness
Society = Wash. D.C. in early June. Met Hart Melchior
during of San Diego St. U., & now from-lancing on
research in Alaska - mostly on still bears. Also
talked to David Dean, Terry Viereck, etc. Liz has
a great pottery studio & impressive work. Bill's stuff
is great as usual.
May 26 - Jerry dropped me off at the entrance of the
Univ. Arrangement before morning was ~ 0830. I
hidled after until about 1130 getting back to the INF
~ 1145. We worked on the figures for our first-coming
jokes or yellow-board notes at the ASM meetings.
