L/DICKER 1977 May 24 cont. - Glass Creek. Was cloudy on the ground. Air temperature must have been around 36-38 F. After a quick cup of cocoa we headed for our traps, 0730 - 0830 did the grid. Nothing again in live traps at 27.5 mi. At 27 mi. picked up 12 live traps having caught the # M.X., which Jerry had earlier injected with radioactive Zn to see if he could get it going tagged. Then we had a 2nd M.X., not poisoned (1-# imp., not virgin, etc. as the other one did). 0845-0905: picked up all traps at road work site. I had 2 M.X. (1#, 1?), Jerry had 3 C.R. in slugs + 3 M.X. in live traps including 1 radioactive # + 2 wounded. We had earlier caught a third radioactive # on the grid. 0930-1115: Back to camp & broke camp, towing the trailer back down the hill, again with an Allgaster pickup. Did not feel craving when we were working on the grid earlier & now occasionally showed signs of the same breaking through the clouds. 1125-35: Picked up snag dots at 27 mi.: Jerry had M.X. - 2#, 1?, C.R. -1 + 1 garter. 1140: picked up 10 SL. at 27.5 - nothing in before. 1145-1155: Picked up 35 snakes at 27.8 mi. Jerry had M.X. - 2#, 2? + 1 C.R.. I had only 1 # M.X. (NOT from my) 1200-1230 - grid count went fine picked up & then the grid from 1230-1320. Said total 5 SL grid caught only. Checked total 18 M.X + 3 C.R. in traps Sorry Jerry which was released as it was caught by two numbers. Want back to trailer to feed away traps, took X 2 M.X. 2nd Aug-16/71 snakes
