LIDICKER 1977 May 20 cont. Had lunch with Steve MacLean at the "Blue Merlin". Continued processing rice in afternoon. About 1600 went over to visit with Gary Swinty briefly & then took home with Jerry & Maurice. Got on gear together for trip tomorrow to Lake Minchumina. May 21 - Went to post. ~ 9am & I worked on typing responses to various NSF grant proposals, reviewing manuscripts, etc. At 11:30 went to McDonalds for lunch & the Maurice took me to the airport. Got Alaska Central Air Flight (once per week) to Lake Minchumina. Flight took about 50 min. Times were rapidly slipping out & friends that were I had met at LCM. Robe flew with "Blecky" (Blackburn) who runs hunting lodge at Lake M., but he has too drunk to get every details straight. Upon landing, we met "Kenny" who asked us what we were up to, & when we described the yellow-sand note to him he took me ~ 2-3 1952 picking truck that I w. to the NW when the road ends at a US forest. riding etc. A constant - a circular clearing of gravel areas. He said these large blockish rocks were common - this area for the first time in 36 years he'd to live them. As soon as we got out of truck & looked around the smoking & the clearing we saw many thousands of Micrurus xanthinodes ahead their characteristic cells. We started setting traps as soon as we could that Kenny & and I'm back to the airstrip. 1500 - set 5-set traps in this runway and the building + 10 more S.J. = what should do the smaller runways
