LIDICKER 1977 April 27 cont. Toured th SREL's new building - almost finished, went out with W.T. (field) G. Gibbons - hydrologist (U. Akron & Mich. State - student of Dr. Hensley). Saw some of his study area, & the water out on Palo Pond (large reservoir used for cooling hot water effluent from nuclear reactors on plant). A great a few casts we got 3 large large-mouthed bass attached to the cover when hot water comes into the reservoir (threw the net to someone studying them bass who already had caught ~ so by sticking - all to be hooked & released). Toured large section of reservoir also with Becky Sharitz who is studying thermal ecology of the 2 species of Tryphe that occur in the lake. Went back with Mike & a truck to Shirl's home where we had dinner & cleaned house for a get-together the evening (I ran left yesterday for a vacation on the beach). Talked did evening until after 2300. The final day-long until 0115. Others from SREL w/whom I talked: Don Smith (thermal ecology of Gannasice, family at Univ. Montana when worked on hot fish with Lee Metzger, a few Stan MacLean & others from Barrows, 1970), Paul Johns (looks on deer at an S.R. Plant), Dave Nelson (thermal dragon, exp. developer of amphibians & turtles), & Bob Nestor (Mike's business manager). April 28 Out to SREL with Mike. Down to the cypress (Baccus) swamp area with him & Ronnie for short walking trip. The do the "barkmen" for lunch, back to the lake
