LIDICKER 1977 Mar 13 cont. How kind - see. Wh. ev. shrew, see. Oregon James - 10 t Lots of snakes seen in the River. Florida, Georgia, & South Carolina Trip 16-28 April April 16 - Legs on overnight flight to Miami: April 17 - Arr. ~ 0615 in Miami & visited FSL until morning of April 20. Took long walk = State Park on S. end of Key Biscayne. April 20 - Dr rented car drove to Archbold Biological Station near Lake Placid in Highlands County, Florida Took the new toll road called Alligators Alley (continuation of Fla. 84 w. of Fort Lauderdale) across the Everglades. Then Fla. 29 N to just w/ US 27 at Homestiny. Before giving to Archbold, went to Lake Placid & lost a farm when I got stuck in a sandy road. Took me 1 ½ hrs. of hard work to get out. Went to Archbold Station. Was greeted by Glen Woolfenden (a Univ. South Fla. in Tampa) & had dinner with him, Jay Layne, & other researchers at station. After dinner, we went to Layne's home in "Islands" a Lake Placid for the evening. Stayed overnight at the Station. April 21 - After breakfast went out in the field with Woolfenden & John Fitzpatrick (grad. student at Princeton working on tyrannids in S. America) to see their Scelages study area & meet many of their gay friends. It was great (saved photos taken).
