Nov. 12 cont. - Hunting.
Significant rain of the morning. Mark went field in
evening also Liz MA this on Mojave Desert rodent
community.
While driving to Riverside Hwy Camel Valley Rd, we
saw 8 Red St. Hacks & 2 Red shelled Hawks.
Nov. 13
Ran Chaparral Colburn line with 2 students. There
was a good catch, but no hadronyids. One trap at station
no. 3 was missing; we looked down slope & found a old trap
two jumps open & set the instead. At Robinson
Creek, the golden ants produced 1 gopher. The trip to
2 then set 6 by Stewarts along edge of chaparral clear
the road. Later [illegible] in the day, we set 9 hole
traps close to the Station Headquarters. Spawning talky
+ Davis's & Patton's.
Nov. 14
Picked my traps at Robinson Ck. One gopher and had a
good gopher impetuous laying near the road. The 6
Stewarts produced: 1 Neotoma, 1 Perognathus trini (both
of which were released), & 2 Re:Perodontomy's (taken from
a fests) + 1 Perognathus californicus (killed by shining
by a student). The 9 hole ants caught nothing, but
two were set off. Left for home ~ 1345'. Saw
Red-tail. Squirrels on way out. This Black Phoebe's
and blue tan seen at the Station. Otherwise only common
birds were noted; crows seemed more abundant than
2 had perceived them previously. 1 Perognathus calif.
catch: cleaned him totally; only one Perognathus
