LIDICKER 1976 Sept. 1 cont. Worked with Jerry on Lis thesis until ~ 1500. The previous filled my cup and we went home. Ate a tomato pizza car at the next Dole Smithie = Lis office at IAB at 1600. We talked until ~ 1720. Smithie is the zoologist in the Dept. I received Lis masters at U. Ill. (~ 1957-58) & PhD at Univ. Chicago (1963) with E. Olson. The I went to try two hotels during weekend to meet Steve & Edna MacLean at IAB at 1740. We went to their home at the Yack Estates to talk until 1910. Edna's brother was there (Bob) & Steve & Edna's two boys - Steven & Andrew (~60 & 8 year old respectively). Then I went to George & Angelita West's home for dinner evening ~ 1920. Went home ~ 2210. Talked w/ Maurice & Jerry until 2330. Sept. 2 High left flights (H) 0840 for Anchorage to Seattle. Beautiful day, temp. ~ 44° F at 0800. Av. Seattle ~ 1510 (Pacific Time). Flight from Seattle to S.E., leaving ~ 1620. Av. S.F. 1805. Birds seen in Alaska between = the Horseshoe Creek area: Pied U. Gull - 6+ Sandhill Crane - 45+ Black-headed Gull - 10+ G, no. Teal ? - 10+ Kestrel - 2 Canada Goose - 75+ (most were probably Lesser Canada Geese but I was unable to study their bill or leg length)
