LIDICKER 1976 Sld. I went. Because I lack good habitats for them. So he discouraged me from going with them. Therefore I went into the lab with Gary. We went to see Bird Day and got some more otter tissues from him and picked up some of Gary's or Steve's clean shells. Bird has the only domestic colony in Texas, if not all of Alaska. Then we talked with Don Hartbauer who runs the animal colony for IAB and he had lots of experience raising and handling micrathenzellus . His records indicate a weaning weight of ~16 g, then the had a few individuals have 2 1/2 to 3 yrs. He thinks they do not reach really large size until > 1 1/2 yrs. old. Peter Morrison is using the growth data for his studies of growth and aging patterns. Bob Reed who originally started this colony has lots of data from it in Scotland. Then we went to the Confection Dairy for both. ($5.10) I dry ice and to the Safeway to get a styrofoam cooler (largest they have one which was damaged for 50 cents). Returned to lab to pick up my frozen bodies, did Gary the favor loan to put his freezer for taking overnight. I talked with Ted Dryness (Director of INF) until about noon. Then Gary and I went to Gary Swartz's office and went to lunch with him at the student union along with one of Gary's former students (Alan) who was a registrars or 2nd headed for Biology Marine Lab to work for Bob Risalvage.
