LIDICKER 1926 Aug. 27 Got up 0730 and went to airport to pick up Colin Hunter's (president of Wilderness Society) car who lives a hundred miles south of Wolf's cabin. Gary went to look for picking vehicle for our field trip. Back home we had lunch just packed up New Fox cam 2 shops-stone dead. Left ~ 1000. About 3 o'clock out he had a flat tire on disc wheel 1) the tire wrench provided was the wrong size, and the spare was way flat. The next truck along Howard Creek is a tire wrench so we could change the tire. Then we drove along the old trail 35 miles to Livengood. The gas station had neither gas nor air so we went to Livengood Alaska camp, a man who did not say got some air but got our flat tires fixed soon. The drive on to today was at mile 28 on the Yukon River Rd. Set grid the guy had been sitting since May at mile 28 : 10 trap by 10, 5 min between shots. Set 4 colby's. Stones may caught out for bait, 1500-1600. Then from 1600-1615 set 10 more traps on a current line 5 if grid, down stream, starting ~ 200 feet below trap J-7. When setting last 2 traps, bird M x squawked for first time today. Heard many squawks in next few minutes to sound more or lay back to wind. Gary set a similar line on N side of grid at 10 more on a nearly straight level. Then we went to mile 27 (one was a set last year) and set 5 big, 5h's in a young area on S side of Rd. (very little sign). Gary set 5-6 another young area
