LIDICKEN 1968 6 Sept. cont. and of this road there is a fence & a trail to Shell Beach. From about 1415-1515 we saw X's Longworth live traps in the area. Explored N toward McClure's Beach including road into Tomale Bay St. Pt. Returned to main road to Pt. Royes. Set 20 long-walks on edge of streams: in thickets near old Blacksmith shop (3 mi. W, 1/2 mi. S Quivernois Marina C.). There was a willows kettle & barns. Microtus virginianus abundant in adjacent meadows & several individuals were seen. Returned to Berson's & set 45 Longworth's (~1645-1735) in the woods behind his house. 7 Sept. Relatively warm, humid night in this area. Catch at Berson's: Sorex - 1 (WZL #2986) Microtus - 2 (incl. 1 juv.) Peromyscus - 4 (388:1 ?) S. edge Tomale Bay St. Pt.: Sorex - 2 (both released alive) Microtus - 4 Peromyscus - 5 Blacksmith shop site: Microtus - 7 & many others seen. At the Tomale Bay Pt. site at least 1-5 traps were taken open by woodrats (judging from debris.)
