I drove N to Occidental where we had lunch
in the Union Hotel. Then we continued to
Monte Rio on the Russian R. We were impressed
with the sharp transition between the groved
Brush Edits (scattered clumps of trees in places),
& the Douglas Fir forests which start just N of
Ferndale. We returned to Occidental, then to
Gueron, Sebastopol & on to US 101 at Cotati,
& the Low. Arrived about 1645.
Along the ridge above (cont.) Drake's Estero
we found several active Aphiadontia burrows
with cuttings etc. They were in the thick brushy
vegetation on the N faces of the ridges.
Inverness Peromyscus trip with Wayne C. Packer
6-7 September, 1968
5Sept. Left about noon in MV2 camper. We took
the road from San Rafael via S.P. Taylor St. & K,
looking for likely places to trap for Peromyscus
maniulatus individuals. Stopped briefly at Benson's
place (1 mi. SE Inverness) to cross the
ridgeline for trapping & camping; spoke briefly
to a neighbor. Proceeded N of Inverness to
Sedge of Tomales Bay State Park, (turn off on
rd. near coast after main road turns W to Pt Reyes,
called something like "Camino del Mar"). At the
