LIDICKER 1974 Dec. 19 cont We had breakfast & got underway again about 0800. We continued N on Interstate 5 until Los Banos when we stopped for lunch. It was cold, overcast & with intermittent fog. Birds noticed on this stretch: W. Crow Brown-headed Co. Raven Red-wing Starling W.L. Tailed Kite - 1? Woodpecker WL Cr. Sparrow Yellow-rumped Warbler Killdeer Kestrel L. Shrike Mead Hawk Red-H. Hawk Morning Dove - 2 (on Kings Co. line, S. border); They were the first 2 forms for the entire trip, 2 others were seen later. Horned Lark Yellow-billed Magpie Harrier Finch After lunch we went to the newly Los Banos Wildlife Area (State) & found it closed for bird watching because it was the hunting season. So we went on to the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge & parked 1/2 to the north. We spent about 1 hr. driving around the lakes there. Birds were: Kestrel - one Co. Goldfinch - 20+ Mead Hawk - 10+ Pied W. Grebe - 25+ Gr. Blue Heron - co Wl-tailed Kite - 5+ Crane Mallard
