LIDICKER 1974 Dec. 13 - Vt to 0645 to check traps, 2 had 1 more Parospeus calif. + 1 P. marianulatus in the 2nd gully ( orig. 16 traps). 2 on new gully, 2 had 1 more Newtonia ( L fuscidis taken under a Rhus integrifolia ) + 1 Parospeus. No one caught any Microtus, including the song that trapped at 2 mi. W. Meneadero. On the trip I had not in the many with grumish drifting, I got only 1 Parospeus californicus ( trap replaced with Parospeus round). Also got 1 gopher in my two nets. After breakfast, we waited on specimens until 1300. Then we jacked camp & left. Birds seen near camp: W. Kingbird, Cor. Raven, Brown Pelican, W. Gull Cormorant (?) Peregrine falcon (Red-tail Hawk? Kestrel, Brown Thrasher, Wren-kit (say heard) At the Byg & marsh near Meneadero, we saw: Doveticks - seen landed mottled Godwits - 100+ Willet - 100+ Greater Yellowlegs - 2+ Knot - 5? mud-dart ducks - hundreds Teal (Green-wing?) - 20+ Gt & Blue Heron - 5 Ariv. Egret - 1 Spoon Heron - 1 Black-billed Plover - 2 Whimbrel - 1 Bufflehead - 8 Scamp - 50+
