LIDICKER
1973
Kensington Calif. (108 Willar Lane)
May 18 1855 (54° F.) 1 CL: chickadee hanging
from post of hummingbird feeder, + drank from
it. This is the first first observation of a
bird hanging from the post rather than perching on
it & is thus the 1st recorded incidence of
CL: chickadee near of this feeder since March 18.
And this is in spite of the [illegible] continuous
presence of chickadees in the area during
this interval.
May 23 1943 (56° F.) Sev. CL: chickadees in yard.
One went to hummingbird feeder, perched on
post + drank twice.
Brooks Island
June 22 Left from LSB about 0845 with:
Fred McCollum, Steve Arnold, Lynne Hovet, Agatha
Dill, & Virginia Maiorana. We went to the Ford
Plant - to pick up the boat. Arrived on the island
about 10:30 met the new caretaker, Mr. Al
Betancourt who invited us to have coffee with
him before we started to work. It was overcast
& cool until about 1100 when it began to clear up.
The rest of the day was clear & quite warm. About
0100 the usual summer west wind began to blow.
We walked around most of the island hunting &
catching garter snakes & a few alligator lizards.
We also, naturally, checked out Micrurus sign
& Fred made check of various counts with a 5 ft.
