DICKER 1972 25 July cont. Sightlessly until dusk when we were sight of St. Maarten's Island. Also got good look at all brown offering lovely - John, Brown Birdy. 26 July Ashore most of day on St. Maarten's. Saw W.mal + N.mids French section (St. Martin's). Left 0300. 27 July Arrived in Tortola (British Virgin Islands) about 1100. Went ashore most of day touring island with Carl, his family, & other passengers. Left 2100, sailing for St. Croix. Anchor off shore about 0100. 28 July Disembarked on St. Croix when we stayed until 31 July. 31 July - Flew to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Where we stayed with Paul Lichet & family at Rio Pictras. 1 Aug. Drive into mountains to El Verde (AEC field station) & then to El Yunque. 2 Aug. Flew from San Juan to San Francisco via Miami, arriving about 1815.
