English Sparrow Black Junco Dark Rail Horned Lark We also saw a ground squirrel (best 13-6) Two miles after we got back on US 2 we saw what must have been a prairie chicken fly off a mile away. Continued on to Williston where we spent the night (Rustler Inn Motel). Rain on & off during day, especially afternoon. June 26 After leaving Williston we went S on US 85 to see the Missouri R. : : : our bird list next saw was Lark Sparrow; then getting to US 2 & cont. westward. 9 miles before the Montana state line, we encountered a colony of Chestnut-colored Longspurs. A & longspur was seen feeding a full grown egg. Just W of Poplar, Montana, we saw an Upland Plover. Made a lunch stop in a short-grass prairie area (101 miles from the state line, 58 mi. E & N Hinsdell) & 101 miles from Malta). Here we saw: Brewer's blackbird - feeding egg. (carrying food to nest) Red-wing Rock Sparrow Dark Countrey E. mealybird Vesper Sparrow - 2 Horned Lark Clay-colored Sp. - 1
