Ludjcken 1972 April 27 rain. Helen, we also bought in 5 - 8$ for Mike. We didn't get back until about 1800. Total cost: 125; Helen took 20 blood samples. We started right in to the autopsies, working from 1815 to 1945. Then we had dinner. Afterwards I took a shower. Graham & Della went off to the lighthouse for a weekly card game. April 28 Weather: mostly overcast with strong SW winds increasing during day; few showers. After breakfast we started mowing traps grid & picking up all traps. Helen worked with Graham & I so she had already gotten more than enough blood samples. At 1130 we tried to call Jimmy Smith, the boatman, to tell him we wanted to come off the island but got no answer. At 1230 we were able to try again when we saw his boat about 1/3 of the way across. Helen & I then left Graham on the tugline so we could return to place for leaving. The boat came into the S. landing which was sheltered. Jimmy did not know of the forecast for gale winds & 8 visibility this afternoon, but agreed to stay until 3 pm. Sam Berry was on board along with a psychologist from St. Andrews (Lecturer - Mel Goodale sp? ). They were going to do some behavioral testing on the May mice. There was also a photographer from The Sunday Times (Mike Ward) who wanted gull photos & a gull parasitologist from Dundee. We had lunch at 1400 & went to the boat at 1500. It was a rough wet trip back to Craig. Mike Ward gave Helen & I a ride to the Edinburgh airport where we caught a
