LIDICKER 1971 Oct. 9 cont. I just finishing their breeding season. They are very decile & a pleasure to work with. The Apodemus, are "wilder" - a factor, but still not inclined to bite very much. Setting we took a walk to The Wick on the south side of the island down the cobbled track along the coast (500) to the lower. Grey seals are common and stones at frequently can be heard calling. On the South Haven we saw 4 seal pups in various places along the rocky shore. There were numerous small caves around the shores of the island which the seals use for jumping also. There was a violently heavy rain storm in the middle of the day, but later it cleared up, so it was a beautifully clear night. Oct. 10 Did took us until 1200 to finish running the traps.
