L.Dickson 1949 Aug. 28 cont. P.O. Museum's Box 635, Pt. Moresby. Went back to Papua Hotel to await the TAA airboat two. It came about 1115. At the airport I waited some more. The flight was due out at 1230 & we finally departed about 1305. Saw Sidney Lande at the airport & talked to her briefly. Loss the 3 hr. flight to Brisbane & only 1/2 hr. to Sydney. We arrived about 1/2 hour behind schedule. Basil was there to meet us. We took the airboat two & then to his flat in Kirribilli. There I had a delightful evening with Basil & Judy. Judy is 'tutor' in Engl. Dept. at N.S.W. Univ. in Kensington. Stayed overnight with them. Aug. 29 Went to Museum & worked with Basil on becoming on two joint papers, but didn't get too far with numerous interruptions. Geoff Shanna came by about 1200 & at 1300 he met his wife Barbara & they took me to lunch at a small somewhere in the (Paddington?) direction of Kensington. We got back to the Museum at 1415. Jack Mahoney (Dept. of Geology & GeoPhysics, Univ. of Sydney) was there & we talked about sediments, etc., until about 1600. After that Basil & I finally got back to work. At 1700 Judy showed up & she'd we headed for the TAA office to get a bus to Mascot (airport). Arrived at airport 1805 for flight at 1915, just in time for coffee.
