The new trip was also limited with rain. Almost
dark by the time I got back. Took 5 new 18" lime
trips and went down into the extensive kumai on the
N. side of Maine and set them traps widely spread.
It was raining again and I got pretty wet. Took a
shower, had rain again and continuing to about 2000.
After dinner I helped Vince get jacked up for
leaving tomorrow to Garaina.
Aug 26
Netted Garaina contingent got off (Savid, Zweifel,
& Stovey). First showed up last night so he & I
are the only ones left at Maine. Ross is going
down to Boston with severe gastroenteritis. About
0800 picked up long line. At 8:30 a.m., N had 1
frog (P. leucogaster) caught - single mus, Spec.; no.
3198, and a Triolobosaurus (no. 3199) in a sherman
trap. Several net traps were strong. Noticed limit
coloration fresh water snail shells. **The of the
3 new traps next along the stream were cleared - totally
by rain; the third had the bait gone, but was not
strong. Picked up 5 long line traps out in kumai; none
was touched. A native brought in a green box which
I bought for $20 (no. 3200). Started packing up
gear for going home. After lunch went into town to
P.O., to send last shipment of cell cultures to Hsu, & to
the bank. Then I went to Trinidad H.S. to find a Mr.
