LIDICKEN 1969 25 Apr, cold. ♀ Hydromys chrysogaster (no. 3196), 2 Sphenomorphis jolensii (no. 3194, 3195), & 1 large Trilobomatus griseus (AH 2951, RZ 8721). The lizard was all in live traps. the latter was given to Zweifel. The Hydromys was in a net trap and on top of a log. There are no streams in the area that I know of for at least ½ mile, maybe more. I checked but did not pick up the traps at 8½ mi. N Makong. Here caught 1 lg. ♀ Echinosperm (lying next to a spring and trap); no. 3191), 1 ♀ (no. 3188), Makong in a net trap at the base of a large tree, 1 Sphenomorphis jolensii & 1 Trilobomatus griseus (no. 3189 & 3190). Both were again under The Sphenomorphis was in a net trap & had a worm in its mouth; was caught while I was checking the trap. The T. grisei's was in a Skimmer. It is interesting that all 3 reptiles were caught in the 34 net traps not a more in the Skimmers. A couple of other net traps were Spring. Skimmer comes in late morning, or afternoon. Vince went into town in the afternoon to receive the last bit from S. Barus Cave. He also arranged over- night accommodations for me in Port Moresby for the light of the 27th. At about 1615 I went out to check traps at 8½ mi. N. We had a hard rain storm which was the first one I saw in a week. Had 1 more S. jolensii's in a Skimmer trap. Set 3 additional 18" line traps along a stream through the forest. The stream seems to be slightly tidal & contains Periophthalmus.
