LIDICKON 1969 11 Aug cont Since I had not had any lunch, I then showed around the sanctuary. The ferns were clear of the Sanctuary as well as Jives & Ross. At about 1845 Shane drove me to Tas Hemsworth's place in Tasmania Valley where I finally after long lost met up with Vince Smith & Dave Gravatt. We had dinner, chatted, & then they went to check a few nets. It was almost 2230 before we got to bed. I looked through some of the stuff accumulated here in the freezer while they were checking the nets. 12 Aug. Still not completely well. After breakfast started cleaning nets that had come in today, including 1 Dobsonia poliocephalus taken in a mist net strong across a pool in the river. I also cleaned a Nyctimene which I found in the freezer which seems to be a species new for the collection (no. 3135). In addition to the 2 Sycoryctes cleaned, 2 chiroptera were released & 1 other was frozen directly. Took trip after lunch. Then we set 4 Gy. colliphila line traps along the shore of the river now where we saw tracks in the mud along the shore (possibly hydropygine tracks). The traps were baited with meat. Then Vince & I set out 17 of the G. Sharman-style traps in a forested area. We set them out in a hurry since it was almost dark, & baited the traps with banana slices.
