Aug. 10 cont.
Skinned least night. Then skinned a broad-cowrt
that was alive in a cage when I first arrived in
Mairon. I had 2 ly. hand eggs which died at
different ages & were frozen (#3122). Then a
beautiful specimen of Murexia arrived from Wanwe
& I skinned that too. The group from Wonk
returned early in the morning although Gai & Tom Melway
continued on the same plane with Jon Athguist
& Robin Bauer who were on their way to Daru,
at the mouth of the Fly River. On the afternoon I
decked gear for going to Hagen tomorrow, rested,
wrote 2 letters, & skinned 1 of yesterday's H.
calcaratus. After dinner skinned 2 Rattus collected
earlier by R. Bauer from the Tambul area (3127+
3128). Noted that both females had very long clitoris
& ugly anal glands. Looked through bats collected
by Wonk group & found 1 E. ballomura which I
also skinned (#3129). Then were also lots of
Parapteryx - the collection of 2 H. boodenden bialina
which were tan rather than grey in color. Finished
packing & want to bed ~2230.
