They found no diagnostic symptoms, but made a blood smear + gave me two sleeping pills which anesthetized me for the night.
Aug 6
Blood smear negative. Dr. Henry (the physician - a pediatrician actually) took me in) took a blood sample + sent serum away to Morphy for antibody tests. About 1500 I began to feel more alert than since yesterday morning & finally even Aug. 4. Ate dinner relatively enthusiastically for the first time since Aug. 1.
Aug 7
Today I felt like I was going to survive.
My fever still classified as FUO (fever of unknown origin). Rested, read & wrote a few letters. Dr. Henry says that in hundreds if people fevers caused by viruses are a little known - mostly because they are usually not fatal.
Aug 8
Tom Zoller arrived about 0800 + picked me up at the hospital. We left about 0830, went to post office & bookstore (where I bought a book on jigsaw English) & then to Amset Office where I made a reservation to Dr. McKay for Sydney on Aug. 28 & Dr. Sydy for SF on Aug. 29. Skinned a few coins from Wawa & wrote letter from Warren (nos. 3112-3118), resting intermittently,
