LIDICKER
1969
Like I wouldn't get out of it today, but it cleared up justilly & Stan came in about 0545.
Dick Zweifel got off & I got on; we also carried a sick man who had walked in from the road & was headed for Yakima Hospital. We had an uneventful flight back to Medary. After about 5 hrs Harold Coppe stood up to meet me & we got back to Melvyn by 2pm, after visiting Greenwell's - Medary to deliver 3 live birds to give. They were packing to leave for Mt Hagen that afternoon, but decided to take the birds with them. He also stopped at the P.O.
Walked all afternoon & into evening shivering, etc.
About 2230 began to feel very tired & the I got bad chills.
Aug 2
Woke up very sick, fever & chills & muscle aches. Rested most of mom. Processed 2 canards - afternoon, a cardicent & Melongs brought in from Capuchin Seminary across the bay (3102 + 3103). First time after The Melongs had this like last time John & picking it up by the smell of the birds to identify, the skins ripped badly. This seems to be a genetic disorder & I remember the Melongs taken in 1962 in the Barlaka Valley were very fragile around the neck & on top of the head. Rested in late afternoon, now fever (to 103.6'F) & chills.
For 2 evening I began to feel a little better.
