LIDICKEN 1969 rice. Bird killed his unit around 4/5 pm next morning. Revisited 32 trap close yesterday - his unit a starfruit. After dinner Bill & I looked for bird lets + tree when we had seen by fruit lets last night. Arrived at 10pm on 20th & immediately shot 2 Pteropus (3088 + 3090). Also shot a Rg. gaudius (big look) that was climbing up the trunk of the same tree as the birds were feeding (3089). Spotted it by eye shine as it hung very well camouflaged. Quite a few other Pteropuses feeding - then + fluttering around. In nets we had 2 Paranyctimene (closely together) + 4 Syconops. When we got back & took call culture from one of Pteropuses + preserved some of its liver for Hsu. July 31 Checked traps + started carrying them in. Before breakfast & brought : 17 of them down waterfall + all but 5 from airstrip line. After breakfast Boris & I went down to retrieve the 15 traps set at 1540 + 1620 hrs. Caught nothing in any of the. Also nothing in the 4 star traps. Then first nets found and 3 Macroglossus. Skinned 1 of Paranyctimene + the then young Phalanger that died (I was trying to keep him alive long enough to get him back to Mainland). Recorded my running traps, 15 from cave & 5 from airstrip. Took a few photos around village. Beautiful sunset. Noticed that the Paranyctimene skinning
