July 28 cont.
Skinned 2 more hats after dinner. The Bill &
I left ~ 20:15 to check the nets. He had checked 3
more about 5-min further down the track. This
makes a total of 8 nets including one night in the jungle
and they remain cleaned flat. The nets contained only
1 macaw + 2 birds, a small kingfisher & a small
dead owl/kite. In the net in the jungle, a lizard was
creeping on it & we caught the bird (no. 3081).
We were back at to bed by 21:30.
Aug 29
Up at 06:15. Checked 4 trap lines to E. Caught nothing.
P: used up traps #s 1+3 for re-setting. Bill went to nets.
Only 1 bird this morning, a Roseatrus (no. 3083).
After breakfast I went down to check my traps at
1540 & 1620 ft. Caught nothing but a lizard & large
spiny (no. 3084). Redid all on lawn few far & broad
on biscuit. Took camera down so took a few photos:
1) view w/ Yasuri's lawn
2) looking down from above trap site (1540 ft)
3) upper trap site (1620 ft.)
4) looking up trail (~ 1700 ft.)
5) from garden on top looking NW
I also faked up the major traps set at ~ 1800. It still had
fruit after 3 nights, but did not look handy.
Back on top by 10:30. Had "doctor boy" just bandage on
my finger which had flared up from a bee bite some
