LIDICKER 1969 Alpha Helix Expedition B 14 July -29 Aug., 1969 14 July Left San Francisco on Pantas 210, stopped about 40 min. in Honolulu and another 40 in Nandi, Fiji. 15 July - crossed dateline 16 July (1550 PDT). Arrived in Sydney ~ 0850. Met H Braid Malar. Checked into Hotel Metropol & then walked to Australian Museum with Braid. Walked all day then on Antechinongs. Met Frank Talbot Director Harry Recker, Dist. of Environmental Studies (PhD Stanford, just disc with MacArthur) & family with Charles Bird's Dst for 1/2 yrs., and Paxton, Ichthyologist from USC (student of Jay Savage a friend of Dave Wake). In evening had dinner with Braid & talked about "Cercotrichidae" (family paper with R.A. Stivton). 17 July Got up 0500 to make 0700 plane for New Guinea. Switched from jet to Friendship Trader in Port Moresby. Stopped i Los, arrived Madang ~ 1500. Got into Madang from airport & then got ride to Maiwara with the Alpha Helix's customs agent. 18 July Spend most of day organizing a visit over in
