Mus. ♂, No. 2205, Alt. 3330', 29 Aug. 1938, Balovale, Barotseland, H-B-197, T1-150, HF-57, Ear-45. Description Head - Snout elongated like a trunk, dark brown stripe on top of snout, greyish brown on sides, whitish below snout and chin and throat, a glandular groove under snout. Top of head a dark cinnamon brown, same color in front and behind eye. A greyish brown patch above and above behind eye to ear. Also greyish-brown below eye and on sides of necks. Outer half of outer ear with short cinnamon hairs, behind more bare and thin dark brown or reddish brown, inside of ear dark reddish brown with short light hairs, a white tuft of hair at base of ear. Body - Back a cinnamon brown, grey brown on sides and white below with a slate-grey base.
