Personal Notes
I have collected this species in many places in South Africa, in Mashupaland, in Bechuanaland, in the Transvaal, and I believe in S.W. Africa. They are active during the day hopping and running, or darting swiftly from rock crevice to rock crevice. They are easy to observe and can be approached fairly closely. They eat ants and other small insects. They are easily trapped on meat meal. I have watched them hidden away under rocks ledges. They run often with tail in the air. Their long nose can be twisted around in any direction to sniff the air.
