Tom Larson Elephant shrew (cont) Genus species - Elephantulus rupestris Hind feet - yellowish hairs above, dark paws, foot long with 5 clawed toes, first toe vestigule and above other 4 toes, upper hind legs naked Testis - internal, penis abdominal - long, slender and vermiform. Tongue moderately extensible projecting (50 mm) beyond mouth. Mammos - 6 Narrow naked gland on underside of tail, black in color, spewing small beads of moisture. Collected Elephantulus intufi EX. 28, ♀, 5/00.'23', Koribib, S.W. Africa, 3842', Shortridge, HB-129, T1-137, HF-35, 25 Brownish yellow above, sides yellowish white, below white, foot paws brown, ears medium brown, tail medium brown. Personal Notes Collected this species on Jnr Baintain Farm 15 miles from Windbock. They inhabit small clumps of bushes. During the day they are active and run from clump to c lump in search of food.
