Africa, Shortridge, 3067' HB-450, TI-108, HF103, Eor 115 Ears reddish brown tipped, white along inner margin, mottled brownish, much lighter and paler than Lepus satilios, below white, throat ruffose, front legs as well as rear ruffous, foot pads ruffous. Lepus capensis "vernayi" Example Specimen - KM-10476, ♀, 2/3/1932, Edenville, O.F.S., N.B. Chivers, HB-435 TI-90, HF-94, Eor-108. Eartips black, white in mid belly, light ruffous and lower sides, above a mottled brownish black kind fit long and thin, brownish ruffous light ruffous above, front foot pads dark rusty brown, above light ruffous. collected Lepus capensis "ermeloensis" Example specimen - KM-10466 ♂, 27/11/3, Erme lo, Transvaal, Chivers, HB-438, TI-80, HF-112, Eor-108. Ears black tipped, body above mottled brownish ruffous, streaked with black, side less dark, throat ruffous brown, chin light ruffous, white below, sides light ruffous tail short white below, black stripe above legs thin and ruffous, pads dark reddish brown.
