Tom Larson Collected Bles Mole (conescens) Genus species - Georychus Capensis Family - Bathyergidae Superfamily - Bathyergoidea Suborder - HYSTRICOMORPHA Order - RODENTIA No. 1428/22 Example specimen - Port Elizabeth Mus. ♀ Landsdown, Golfcourse, H-1¾" neck1", Body 5½, F. leg - 2¼, H. Leg 2¼, 29 June, 1940 Description Head - Nose brown, a white area above nose which forms a & reverse A above comes down around nose and under chin and neck. Spot of white around each eye, black on cheeks extending to forehead, a white spot on top of head, a white spot around small ear hole, back of head a dark brown. Body - a rich fawnry brown at tops, slate grey underneath, fur very fine and soft. Belly side a light grey - hair shorter, Toil - short and lullny, with white hairs - about ½" long ! Forefeet - 5 toes with Claws, 1st toe short, 2nd toe longest, 3rd to next, etc - toes powerful for digging. Sparse white toes on foot, brown pads below.
