Tom Larson Collected Black-Backed Jackal Genus species - Canis mesomelas Subfamily - Caninae Super family - Canoidea Suborder - FISSIPEDA Order - CARNIVORA Superorder - FERAЕ Cohort - FERUNGULATA KM - 13412 ♂, / July 1947, Izeli, W. King Williamstown, C.P., A.C. Dorion, 780, 320, 160, 110. Desc - Head - a rusty buff face speckled with white tipped hairs, nose rusty reddish, cars rusty red above, chin and throat a whitish brown. Body - back a streaked black and white above narrowing to a V at tail, a distinct black band on side of upper back, sides and flanks a rusty red, rump very rusty rusty red, white below; Tail - bluish above on hair tips, hair below is whitish brown, tail black tipped. Legs. - rusty red above, below rusty white, Feet - same as other jackal, pads black, claws dark black.
