Aug 7 6 mi E Truchas, 10,000 ft, Rio Arriba Co, New Mexico
a sort of a buffy eye ring, tha also have a red
tail. On the way down the slope I took a
shot at a Hellb[illegible] guy but I missed him. Chickadees
were numerous. A chickaree begun cursing me
out in plain view about 10 feet away. I could
almost have collected him with my gun butt.
Peerson returned from Truchas peak to report
that there are Peromyscus maniculatus there.
Tomorrow we leave here. I have left my traps
cut, but will probably skeletonize the resultant
mice.
