Escarcega, Campeche, Mexico. Turtle, shell about 18" x 12". Jose said jaguar in Centenario zoo in Merida came from Cul he got 2 yrs ago. | We took bus to Villahermosa, stayed at Hotel Rio Azucay. 2 February 1972. Villahermosa Tabasco Went to Delegacion Frontal, Juarez y Zaragoza. Delgado away, but talked with two others. They said Tabasco wettest state in Mexico, heavily populated, many ducks, but almost no mammal game except near Tenosique. Much in Chiapas & Campeche, however. They said a local jefe at Tenosique would know more. | Visited market, large, which included many live turtles off of least 2 kinds, and pile of live eguises about 2' long. Many shrimp, dried gars with sticks thru lengthwise. Usual tropical fruits. No skins of wild fowls seen. With ducks farce, many apparent corvinas too. | Visited Tabasco museum. Various jaguar representations and motifs in clay, stone, photos. | Took ADO bus 3 p.m. for Tenosique, and stayed at Hotel Azulejo's. 3 February 1972. Tenosique, Tabasco, Mexico. Looked for Pedro Vega at home, near river from plaza - he was still away for 2-3 days. But met his son, in 20's. He introduced me to "Lio" Manuel Villanueva, in large house nearby. In den, many photos of hunting parties, tejilora, tigris killed. Several guns in cabinet. Manuel soon arrived. Hunting in Chiapan near border, mr. Pedro-cantion, Delvin, others - apparently enter in Agua Azul area. He had taken many pictures in, or arranged it. Mentioned group from Chicago.
