Journal 13 Feb. 1979. Tues. Hi Mttn, San Luis Obispo Co, Calif Elow McMillan notes insists he saw chick there 30 July 1969 and photographed it. Carrion + Liddy were with him then. They saw one adult. / On 9 July 1969, Carrion Liddy had also seen a chick there. (On 10 July they visited Beartrap Cyn. nest site area ). The Mttn. nest said by El to have been discovered by F. Liddy about Dec, 1966. Lookout Pero Ferrari had never seen a condor, at that ( then 2 yrs ?). What is evidence for fledging of any of the chicks. Revisted each year, so probably died. // We filed breakup trial in 1 1/2 hrs. Drove back to Pogo. Larry + Lyn. returns to S.L.O.rupis. I drove to Santa Margarita, thence north on hwy. 101 to Berkeley. / 20 - 29 Feb. 1979. I worked on 4 page comment on Draft Comment- atior for Sample C.C. Contingency Plan. Mailed about 40 copies. Visited Friends of the Earth one day with Mark Palmer. Wrote letters to federal officials urging preparation of a Form Aumps. Statement on the Contingency Plans. Betty Davis & I are to become national board committee of Sierra Club. To Chelanne, S.L.O. Co. 2 March 1979. Departed Berkeley 2 p.m. in new pickup + drove via hwy. 5 to El. Me Millers, 260 mi. Saw a white-tailed litter near hwy. in 2 places near Parake turnoff. / Talks with Cl.. He said of Beartrap: he & Langry saw a flightless young condor about 1 mile S E of CastleCrops about late Sept. (deer season) in 1956 & 57. Last indication breeding there ? Also about 1968, probably 2 condors dead in Pelater canyon after poisoning operation by Bob Lewis. Some of Arnold family carew about it. All evening - up incident. Steve Arnold mention- ed store day. / El also thinks the Santey's Canyon area would be good for condors, or feeding them. Much of it on Kurt Snedden
