Journal 5 May 1978 6 Km E of Tactic, Dona A / the U.P. (about 10 sollecions in ruins.) + his Polochis. Much grassy open slopes; w some cattle. 1km S of houses, edge of forest, mostly Liquidambar in some sections; pecan rare. Tallado bra & Chis (Francisco), cantelo, elate Kehiki- name of animals. This kind of no armadillo, porcupine or foxa in area (he a native) but did not seem a snake observed. Only magama deer, & white-lipped peccary. No tigris or dartos. / We & I walked up canyon to 5-6 myz into woods, to 1900'. Im opening saw Myiozetetes carrying a strand of grass; smaller flycatcher (Tyrannus?) attacked it in air. A Catopan perched atop fence post. We saw guarbler, Siskin, woodcreeper in open. (2 motive called?) a trogon, brown jay, rorandula in forest. Liquid- amberturn to 80'tall, 16" dbls. (Cib went higher on another route; saw green toucan, jay w black head, Dryocopus? woodpecker.) Said no rain for 2 weeks here, though annual rain great. / Black phable a fence near houses. A warbler (gray face, wider yellow supertiling; yellow throat, 3 white wr. bars, light gray belly, dark gray back, spots at side of breast). / We set up a bat net near houses; one even stream in grassland, one among return trees. Tall Lotten took a Sturmius about 9 p.m., another 486-7 Our morning. Two stiltope in rice storage are produced; 0; the large dub guy not seen. 3h. Serrulleras Davis says over to 5, one cant, primitive, + pictured from hunting for 8 yrs. 7 May 1978. Another walk in hills. I pulled down a 10 deerone; no solleciones found. Cib examined branishes in hills yesterday; none. / In the Polochis k, has (EJK setting) why a meter wide, I took a 3" chub.; others taken in streamlet dry houses. I also took a frog (EJK catalog) in Polochis. / We prepared specimens, then with Dona M. + daughter Sarah, we drove to Tamadon & up a side road to S. to Ferias Santa Elisa, of Dna. Julia Lento Cruz de Moll, about 3500' elev. Smolder the town. Coffee, leaves, oranges. Only 1/2 sol-leconas, but nearly trails up into to S. to hunting yours. Eduardo Moll a hunter; he had skins of F. uricidii (juir.), Broygan; 2 Peter. Said puma nearly recently. Forest dense but white-tail rare (he had fame of one). Only w-l peccary. No foyar. No tigris or dartos. But armadillo si, & lepes porca, agouti. Porcan hunted when zapote & aguacate drops. Said saw living nutters once, years ago, but some crested howlers
