3 km. S. of Tecpan, Albarrados, Guatemala.
5. of hour, saw Amazona parvita, Rampleston & truman, Phaeornis ? wood-parakeet. /Evening - several lots taken (EJK catalog), new part. /Due & walked 1 km up trail & camped in cleared area of new coffee planting. Heard Cysticula near in dark.
26 April 1978. Rain commenced about 0600 & continued 1 hr. or so. We returned to reach house. About 0900, pushed up tops. I took no moose (074600 CHE) in 10 tops. Boys took more. They saw large Agura on the new coffee patch. /Took walk up trail to S.E. Flushed a Mycteria from two hrn (cafe s. lake) eggs at edge trail, white feathers with red & white bands across wings; no scent injury foraging. /The trees saw ringlets (?t. typhoeus ? (white tips tail & cream seen not been)), about 5 o'clocks as of family; dark gray upper parts, white below including throat. /A Tarsa graysi (yellow green bill brown iris) had large testis (10 x 6 mm); both brown, not olivaceous. /I saw, Catheto. /Yesterday, Masha H. saw a jive near at close range. Today, apparent Myjorjetator. /Overcast day w. light breeze. /Due & I visited big pond 1/4 mi. E. of house. Flushed small red-brown rail from thick grass. Saw Amer. Egret, Green Heron there. Tropical-looking bird, blackbird, Centurn aurifrons. /Later up canyon to S. of house near stream, coffee, banana. Deminola (dried red-brown bark) tree had cherry-sized brown fruits & frequent bird visitor including Baltimore Oriole. Masha H. looked other side there, the jive near stream nearby. /Brown Jays heard a seen nearly everywhere in a new woods. Duvir in open woods & near houses! We set up 2 mist nets near Tecpana pond. One took a Chloroclystis americanus apparent ?; released. Also a blue hunting (apparent ad. or? fine plumage; dark relieved, blue around eyes) + black round eye); the evening into took a Chlorophaga & an Antilene bat. Later, another antilene & large fox-tail. /In morning, 2 new big antilenes (?Elustrer?) and a red-brown (Sterneia ?)-both in EJK catalog.
26 April 1978. Masha & Jed had camped in hills to SE. I took up 2-2 tops in dense woods but no catch; 1 km up trail to SE of house. /Observed: birds along trail; 4 exercises in Deminola top, date, & Psittaca parvita ?
