forest very quiet. Flycatchers most conspicuous birds.
Other had fair
trap success, bringing in several large Penycrura, a smaller P., two Richrod.
a Turca grazi netted & released. Another, 27 t. 12 x 9, 80 grms.

We took about 10 of the big
luffy chested Penycrura today, mostly juveniles. Taster large, 9 x 15, in same
27 66 grms. or +, & 68 grms. & 58 grms. had mature repro. testes & imperf.

Clean & dry all day.
I walk, brought in an Alonix loyod
from area where felling trees.
Sus, Jed, & Masha walked to Chilasco in mid-after.
noon.
Reported food in stream there; at last to Finica Miranda.
Hunted w. lights in evening
for frogs, wannable but no luck.
1/2 noon, clean area.

Kate took 1 stunning (spec.). Troops, 1 Richrod-tangye (spec.)
18 April 1978. Walked road SE of camp 3/4 mile. Saw Cyarolync juveniles (white line
over eye) (Cubi saw same previous day), 2. Saw 3 green Toucan at once; croaking
(Aulacorhynchus)
calls; in tops tall trees, spared. Big woodpecker. Flieslus. Robustant. & Turca
Myioborus pictus
infuscatus
all brown.
(tail & legs yellow; not eye or eye-ring). Saw an Antrelus (rubiginosus?) with
dry grass in bill, shinking past log side trail; hole in bark on opposite side. Later,
on skody road to NE camp 1/2 mile, saw an antbird w. long yellowish legs, brown
all over, darkest or scum; nod. short tail, walked on logs across trail; allowed opened
to 10'. / Cike & Bill Disher pulled apart branchside and took 7 foot salamander.
We parked up, and departed about 2:30 p.m. from Fines bar Jorge for
Chilenco in VW panel. Skipped briefly. Then took dirt road E across creek & toward Finica
Miranda. Road rough but passable in dry weather, very dusty in spots. Passed Lygiod-
menthy
and long tree, small givers; burnt hillside. Occurred fork to side. about 4 miles up,
6000', in 1/2 mile wide bottom of valley, w. clear 2 m wide stream, elm turn along
stream, but most flat of Barbania to 10' high. Slope w. laurel & oscar. 50' rain,
and thicket of 10-20 ft. pines. Large rotifer laurent, & some planted to laurel &
corn; the spaced plants now about 8" tall. Some boggy spots w. thick grass
near meandering streamlet. Cloud forest on higher slopes to E and SE, about 1 mile
