I went to Elbeth's office on 6th floor of Maya Bldg., next to Hotel Copacatehr; immediately was let into Dorina office. Tall, informal, & spoke only English to me. He was preemitter & gloomy about prospects for support or funds from US. Military govt. Can't value recently struck & got huge salary income from lame-duck president. Banker in trouble. No cigarette went to Cultural attaché at US embassy for information on prospects. Huge losses in trouble - serious situation, & unable to raise prices. All discouraging to me; the banker sympathetic; I was talked about 3/4 hrs. I went to INAFOR and got my collecting permit. C&J's urgent to investigate shipping of animals & permits required. Shopped for food; than took 1630 bus toward Colon. Arrived Lenana, ended 2130. (a month) Yesterday released hummingbird from net - green breast, white line diag- onally down behind eye & whitish chin; I have seen her before. Saw warbler w. z wing bar, brown above, brown line thru eye, blue crown; yellow ventrally. Saw gps. 30+ cattle egrets fly over my house. Umbrella jay - not seen recently. Looking E. from Lenana home, slope of Co. Verde cleared 20 to 6070 msn in irregular lines, with crops on fallow fields in between. Quisis, Bajulampa 2 1600m. 11 March 1978. Clear calm. Walked 1 hr. Only one bird seen was flock 50+ Sprockle tyrannula in fallow corn field; found q. I proceed to depart for El Estor. Took bus at 1530 for San Julian (25¢). Beyond Pocualba, flat valley, better cultivated & grazed, w. slope cleared to top to N. Cassador prominent in fields. Arrived another bus, (75¢) which descended to Tamahui & Tecunún, last about 1500'. Big Ostromji & more about 2100', & yellow flowered Banlocopia by road. River on S. aspect slopes. Stayed in T. Good little hotel!
